Montana Landscape

This 4"X6" oil on board is one of my favorite miniatures . The scene is typical of the landscape of rural Montana.
I used rich earthy colors as a contrast against the blue sky peeking out behind billowing white clouds.
The big Montana sky reminds me of what I see out of my window every day as I look at the farmland below my home.

Simple Magnolia

Beautiful watercolor of a simple white magnolia. I have always loved white flowers. I especially like magnolias. My sister-in law had a magnolia tree outside her apartment window and I looked forward seeing the big saucer sized blooms in the spring. I enjoy throwing a lot of color into the white flowers that I paint.
The original is 20X30

Simple Magnolia is now available in prints. A 5X7 print with a white on white mat sells for $18. If you want one let me know or you could check out my etsy site. Just click on a picture to the right.

Montana Landcape 3

4" X 5" oil miniature Montana Landscape 3

Three Pears

This is a 4" X 5" oil Painting I finished the other day. I loved playing with and enhancing the colors that were barely there in the real life pears that I used for inspiration.
Every oil painter has to paint pears once in their life. Right?

Matting Rip Off!

For one of my assignments for my students I asked them to paint some architecture. Here is my painting. Hope to get it matted soon. I am really frustrated on how expensive it is to mat a painting. If I was only better at it. Maybe I should learn to paint to standard sizes. Then I could buy pre-cut mats. $33 for this small painting. Do you think I am getting ripped off?
It's a good thing I have the frame already.

Well, you can see how hard it is to make a living being an artist.

Tuesday Ladies

My Tuesday Ladies painting cows. We have a lot of fun. They will paint anything I tell them too. They are getting so good that they really challenge me to keep ahead of them.

This is Rainy's Cow

Chris's Cows for her grandson.

My Cow not quite finished.

I am looking forward to many more painting classes together. See you in April.

Delicate poppies

About this painting:

This was painted quite awhile ago. It is still one of my favorites. Poppies are a flower I enjoy painting over and over again. This was painted with fresh colors on hot pressed paper and mounted on a 2" deep box which I painted with an espresso color of paint. The original is owned by my brother and his wife. I do have small prints and greeting cards of this painting.

I hope you enjoy it.
