Loose Moose

This was another demo for my watercolor class. I tried to put as much color on the paper as I could. The effect is a warm and bright painting.

My students were challenged with the task of staying loose, to use lots of color and to let the paint mix on the paper. They all came through with flying colors.

Great Job everyone!

How Now Brown Cow

This is not what I typically paint but it was fun to do. I painted this as a demo in my watercolor class.

Limiting my palette to three colors I used Quin. Sienna with French Ultra Marine to get the dark browns and then Phalo Blue for the back ground and in the white of the cow.
Dr. Martins Bleed Proof white was used to paint the whiskers around the nose, eyes and head.

Montana Stormy Skiies

Golden grain fields under a stormy Montana sky.
This is Creston farm land that is insight of my back window.
This painting was done very loose so that the colors would stay fresh. Before the sky was dry I took a one inch brush and moved the paint around to give it some movement.

Hope you enjoy it.

Country Road

One of my Montana landscape series.
It reminds me of the farm/ country side that is not very far from my home.
I love to do oils that I can paint in a day or two.
It keeps things fresh and not too over worked.
This painting is only 4X4 on canvas and framed with a glided rose gold frame.

Montana Landscape

This 4"X6" oil on board is one of my favorite miniatures . The scene is typical of the landscape of rural Montana.
I used rich earthy colors as a contrast against the blue sky peeking out behind billowing white clouds.
The big Montana sky reminds me of what I see out of my window every day as I look at the farmland below my home.

Simple Magnolia

Beautiful watercolor of a simple white magnolia. I have always loved white flowers. I especially like magnolias. My sister-in law had a magnolia tree outside her apartment window and I looked forward seeing the big saucer sized blooms in the spring. I enjoy throwing a lot of color into the white flowers that I paint.
The original is 20X30

Simple Magnolia is now available in prints. A 5X7 print with a white on white mat sells for $18. If you want one let me know or you could check out my etsy site. Just click on a picture to the right.
